Raleigh to Reno in a DA40! Bryce Bohlander based at Carson City Nevada airport reached out to LifeStyle and quickly realized the folks at LifeStyle were the experts that could help him find the right plane and the right deal and make wise decisions in the process. 

He discussed his goals, objectives and financial particulars with John Armstrong who shared the details of their used aircraft buying process and helped Bryce formulate a specific plan. Bryce hired LifeStyle as his Buyer’s Agent and Armstrong started the search for the plane. Since the market is “tight” right now they together got Bryce in the right position so that when the right opportunity came along he’d be ready to go.

With a little patience the process was successful and resulted in Bryce becoming the proud new owner of a 2008 DA40 XLS aircraft with exactly the features and pricing they were looking for.

The fact that Bryce was in Nevada, the plane was in Massachusetts and Armstrong was in North Carolina was not a problem since these are the kind of logistics that LIfeStyle deals with every week.

LifeStyle oversaw the purchase inspection process and picked up the plane for a one day ferry to North Carolina where LifeStyle’s expert Diamond shop performed a select list of refurbishment tasks so the plane would look like new when Bryce received it.

Then the next task was to move the plane from Raleigh to Reno. LIfeStyle’s senior resident CFII and ferry specialist, Steve Merritt, just back from LifeStyle’s North Caroline to St. Thomas VI DA40 delivery for another client was selected as the perfect one for the Raleigh to Reno delivery.

Ben Armstrong, having recently joined LifeStyle as the firm’s Marketing Manager and in need of his final IFR flight training hours, jumped at the chance to make the Raleigh to Reno trip. The two set off on a Tuesday morning and with a few stops at clients along the way in Tyler TX and Santa Fe NM they were in Page Arizona by Wednesday afternoon.

Then, we continued on for a pleasant flight over the Grand Canyon and on to lovely Lake Tahoe for the presentation of the aircraft to the new owner. 

Over 2126 nautical miles in two and a half days. Legs times were designed for comfort with six stops along the way. Actual IFR, long distance and high altitude with lots of scenery along the way. This type of trip helps folks see the full capabilities of the Diamond DA40 as an ideal regional cruiser that can also be the ideal sightseeing cross-country platform.
